Camp Overview

Making History is a one-of-a-kind summer experience where New Orleans kids become artists, historians, and adventurers—all in one week. Hosted at the historic BK House Museum in the French Quarter, this immersive camp combines local history, daily field trips, and hands-on craft-making to bring the past vividly to life.

Each day, campers explore a different historic site and then dive into a themed craft inspired by their experience. From making herbal salves after a visit to the Pharmacy Museum to creating handmade drums at Congo Square, campers will gain a deeper connection to New Orleans’ cultural heritage while flexing their creative muscles.

By the end of the week, every child will take home a personalized “Time Machine” scrapbook—filled with photos, recipes, crafts, and memories from their journey through time.

Why This Camp?

New Orleans is rich in culture, but many children grow up disconnected from their historical roots. Making History is designed to change that. By blending fun with purpose, the camp encourages young people to:

  • Explore their heritage through immersive experiences
  • Create tangible links to the past with crafts and storytelling
  • Build pride, curiosity, and creativity along the way
